千の風になって　について

この「千の風になって」は作者不詳となっていますが、ナチスドイツに迫害されたユダヤ人の少女マーガレットが、ドイツに残してきた母の死を悲しんでいる時，彼女の話をきいたアメリカ人女性メアリー・フライ(Mary　Frye)が、マーガレットのために書いた詩が原作というのが有力な説のようです。

この詩を新井満氏が日本語の歌詞に訳し曲をつけたのが、「千の風になって」です。

2003年に新井満氏自身が、マキシシングル『千の風になって a thousand winds』として発表。
その後新垣勉、秋川雅史、中島啓江、オユンナ、宗田舞子などにより発表され、また2005年の阪神大震災から10年目のチャリティーコンサートでも歌われていますが、2006年末の紅白歌合戦で、秋川雅史さんが歌ってあっという間に人気を博し、広く知られるようになりました。
